Windermere Reflections is designed to deliver some of the objectives of its umbrella partnership the Windermere Catchment Restoration Programme. The Windermere Catchment Restoration Programme is a partnership of key organisations with a responsibility to contribute to the protection and restoration of water quality and associated ecology of Windermere and the surrounding catchment; it is in turn part of the Still Waters Partnership.
The Memorandum of Understanding for the Still Waters Partnership – Windermere Catchment Restoration Programme:
‘The Environment Agency, Lake District National Park Authority, Natural England, The National Trust, The Forestry Commission, United Utilities, South Lakeland District Council and Cumbria Tourism will work together to improve the lakes within the Windermere catchment. These include Grasmere, Loughrigg Tarn, Rydal Water, Elterwater, Blelham Tarn and Esthwaite as well as Windermere itself’
By taking action both in the water and the surrounding catchment, we will work in partnership to return these lakes to a more natural and sustainable state with clear, unpolluted waters which support a range of aquatic life.
All see the partnership and its plan as contributory to their own organisational goals and are therefore prepared to invest measured resources (people, money and time) into the plans delivery.
